We welcome school and organized groups to the Musée culturel du Mont-Carmel for self-led and guided visits, exhibition viewings and learning sessions!
Exploring the Musée
Advance booking is essential for all groups of 10+ to visit the Musée, whether you are planning to explore the architectural spaces of Notre-Dame, explore the permanent Collection, and/or view a temporary exhibition.
Visits to the Musée are free and can be booked online using the link below. Schools can book up to 60 students and 10 group leader tickets per hour time slot. For assistance with making your booking, please contact the Musée directly.
Large groups are asked to divide into smaller supervised groups. All groups are asked to avoid entry into spaces that are marked as restricted and/or otherwise deemed inaccessible to the public. Please be mindful that Musée staff may also be guiding and/or administering other group sessions during your visit.
Students are welcome to draw in the Musée, and may do so where there is available seating (e.g., sanctuary pews, chapel benches) or may use available floorspace that does not obstruct visitor passageways and entrances. Please ensure they use pencils and small sketchbooks only, and try not to obstruct artefacts for other visitors. Please advise your group that they may need to move on if asked to do so by Musée staff.
Photography without flash is permitted in all museum spaces. Learning Sessions
The Musée culturel du Mont-Carmel is currently developing learning sessions for schools, as well as a free online learning resource hub designed to provide resources and museum engagement activities to support you and your students during your visit.
These free curriculum-linked learning sessions and resources aim to enrich students’ learning across primary, secondary, and post-secondary levels. Each session will center on subjects that vary across history, art, and culture, and seek to develop students’ enquiry, visual literacy, and object-engagement skills.
The Musée is also working to construct Teachers’ events. Hear inspiring talks from artists, historians, and writers, discover creative ideas for the classroom, network with fellow teachers, and learn more on how the Musée serves as a vital educational hub for local and distant schools.

Information you will Need to Provide
To make your booking, we ask that you please provide the following information:
- Dates and times for when you’d like to visit. Please have an alternative schedule prepared just in case.
- Details of your school/organization, group leaders and age range, and needs of your students/participants.
- Number of students/participants and accompanying adults and/or chaperones.
- Number of vehicles and/or coaches/buses.
For schools, our recommended ratio of students:adults is as follows:
- Early Years Foundation Stage (3–5 year-olds) – 1 adult: 4 students
- Key stage 1 (5–7 year-olds) – 1 adult: 6 students
- Key stage 2 (7–11 year-olds) – 1 adult: 8 students
- Key stages 3–5 (11–18 year-olds) – 1 adult: 10 students
At this time, due to the availability of Musée staff, and the nature of our spaces and open display, we can only accommodate a maximum of 60 students for visits within a given time slot. For more details on this, please contact the Musée directly.
