Music has always remained an integral part of the creative fabric of the Musée. Since its founding in 1984, the Musée has sought to preserve and promote all elements of culture and heritage that have historically flourished within the Francophone communities of the Saint John Valley. Such elements include both the tangible (the visual and material), as well as the intangible (the aural and musical).
Our institution has yet to fall short of this aim since its founding, for the Musée has served as a venue for performance-based events, sponsoring the presentation of theatrical productions like plays, concerts, and pageants, as well as special displays of folk culture that include folksongs, folk dance and folk stories.
The Musée continues to welcome an innumerable selection of amazing artists, musicians, and singer-songwriters each Annual Opening Season. In honoring our legacy of supporting audio culture and the wider performing arts, we have broadened the repertoire of music showcased to encompass previously overlooked and marginalized composers as well as the diversity of performers recruited to play. Whether new or returning, our performers are sure to captivate audiences with an eclectic array of musical genres and original tunes!
Our Sunday afternoon concert series proudly remains one of the longest running museum music programs in Northern Maine. See this Season’s lineup of musical performances and special concerts below!
