Visiting the Musée

The Musée culturel du Mont-Carmel is located along the northernmost tip of Maine in the United States which straddles the Saint John River, bordering the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick and Québec. We are just off US Route 1 nestled between the townships of Madawaska and Van Buren.

Opening Season & Hours

We are open for our Summer season June 15 through September 15, 2026. Our Autumnal season runs September 16 through November 1, 2026. During these seasons, the museum is open daily, 12 pm to 5 pm, except on Mondays. These periods denote when we are most accessible to visitors.

We are also open by private appointment year-round. To schedule a visit outside our seasonal opening times, please click the button above and complete a brief form.

Please find below the few dates and periods when the Musée will be closed during its 2026 Season. Operating times are subject to change, so please check-in occasionally for updates.

• Labor Day Weekend: Saturday, September 5 — Monday, September 7
• Tuesday, September 8 — Friday, September 11th

Admission

General admission is free for all, or by generous donation, and is un-ticketed.

Members of Indigenous communities, as well as persons with disabilities and their accompanying caregivers, are always guaranteed free admission to the Musée.

Parking

Visitors may park in the museum parking lot located just off the right side of the main Sanctuary and in front of the Mont-Carmel Cemetery. The parking lot is more than sufficient to accommodate coaches/buses and other similar vehicles transporting large groups (i.e., school field trips, family reunions).
